and this is what happens when you bump post-release and do an emergency
release for packaging issues. yes: there has been a 0.4.1 which was
meant to be 0.4.0.1 or just overwrite 0.4.0 because of build environment
issues found when packaging for debian; we might call the original 0.4.0
"the release that never was", as the packaging issues warranted a
removal of the tarball and a re-release afterwards. my apologies:
evidently doing six releases in one day has taken its toll on me.

this stands.

and this as well. packagers should ignore the previous 0.4.0 release of
the bindings and package just the current suite.
